SUDAN - Rutgers University UMR Chapter
UMR in Sudan delivers comprehensive community management of malnutrition through a dedicated network of 250 trained volunteers who actively screen and support malnourished individuals, focusing on vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, orphans, lactating mothers, and newly displaced families.
Through this initiative, UMR has distributed 1.7 million meals of fortified food, ensuring that those most at risk receive the nutrition needed to prevent life-threatening complications. In addition to tackling malnutrition, UMR supports health facilities by providing essential medicines, benefiting more than 50,000 individuals across Sudan.
These efforts are strengthened through partnerships with the Sudanese Red Crescent, KAAF, Bahrain Red Crescent, WHO, and UNICEF, ensuring efficient delivery of healthcare services that meet international standards. By addressing both food insecurity and healthcare needs, UMR is improving the health, well-being, and resilience of Sudan’s most vulnerable communities.
